A small change can make all the difference

Small World Problems

The Insight In the world of academic writing, length requirements can be a burden. Inspired by the Davidka Mortar, I realized that Hebrew writers needed their own solution for stretching essays without writing more words - or like the Davidka - making noise but not damage. The Solution Davidka is a modified version of the classic, open-source David Libre font. It is designed to be visually indistinguishable from the standard David font used in most Israeli academic institutions, but with a hidden feature: it is 5-10% wider. By subtly adjusting the glyph width and side-bearings (the empty space around each letter), Davidka naturally expands the length of any document. It allows students to meet page-count requirements more easily while maintaining the professional, authoritative look of the standard font.

Embracing the Imperfect

The Misfit Market

In the biblical Gan Eden (Garden of Eden), nature was perfect. In the modern commercial world, "perfection" is an artificial standard imposed by man. One Third of the agricultural produce in the world is thrown away due to cosmetic imperfections or retailer’s strict demands. This project, titled שליש גנעדן, challenges the retail industry's rejection of "ugly" produce. It explores the conflict between Nature's organic diversity and Man’s demand for uniformity. The Design The visual identity celebrates the "misfits"—the twisted carrots, the spotted apples, and the irregular shapes that supermarkets discard. By framing these rejected fruits in a (almost) ready-to-eat pack, the design shifts the narrative from "useless" to "useful." The interface uses raw textures and honest photography to highlight that true natural beauty is rarely symmetrical, urging the user to embrace the imperfect.

Merging two worlds

Animal to Logo

Alma is a mockup organization dedicated to supporting student exchange programs, assisting with everything from logistics and housing to building a supportive community. The Concept: The Migrating Stork The visual identity centers on the stork, a bird famous for its seasonal migration. • The Metaphor: The stork was chosen because it migrates in the winter and returns to the exact same spot in the spring—mirroring the journey of a student leaving for an exchange and eventually returning home. • A New Narrative: While the stork is culturally associated with delivering babies, this logo reimagines the myth. Instead of a child, the stork is the carrier of academic knowledge, symbolizing the intellectual growth that travels with the student. The Symbolism The logo design integrates the bird with the brand's academic mission: • Wings as a Book: The stork’s wings are designed to resemble an opening book, representing the knowledge that wanders and travels alongside the student. The Name The name "Alma" bridges two languages and concepts relevant to the brand: 1. Aramaic: It translates to "World." 2. Latin: It references Alma Mater ("nourishing mother"), the traditional term for the university that educated a student.

A moving self-portrait

Digital Handprint

The mouse cursor is the primary bridge between a user and a digital interface, yet it is rarely treated as more than a utilitarian tool. This project explores the cursor as an active participant in the design rather than a passive observer. By transforming the cursor into a generative brush, I aimed to break the fourth wall of web navigation, turning routine movement into a playful, creative act. This experiment faces myself first - how much i swiped and moved each day - creating a daily self-portrait of my ”Digital Handprint”.
